Case Study Details
Challenge
Improve fleet efficiency by detecting and repairing inefficient assets.
Solution
Cascadia Scientific modelled the impact of individual haul truck performance on overall haulage efficiency across the fleet of installed trucks. The results of these models were used to detect efficiency outliers, and step changes consistent with new or worsening equipment health problems. The maintenance team uses this information to execute maintenance interventions on underperforming assets.
Results
Through modelled truck efficiency, Cascadia has successfully identified faulty injectors, clogged filters, damaged components, fuel leaks, and other efficiency-robbing conditions. Prioritizing maintenance by modelled truck efficiency saved this mine 4% of annual fuel costs (24,000 litres) per truck per year and likely prevented further, more costly damage to the assets.
